the town and has been running each year since 1969. It showcases

Volcano:
From Turner to Warhol. Eye-opening and spectacular, this exhibition
traces a route through the sequence of volcanic eruptions - from
the calm volcano and first ominous rumblings, to cataclysmic explosion,
through panic and death to aftermath, and then quietly back to dormancy
and extinction – through the work of well-known artists such as
Turner, Warhol, Joseph Wright of Derby, Volaire and many more. Times

National
Portrait Gallery-Writers of Influence: Shakespeare to J.K. Rowling.
This special exhibition will take visitors on a journey through
literature history. Over 60 works from the National Portrait Gallery
including Jane Austen to Jarvis Cocker have been loaned to Southampton
City Art Gallery for this exhibition. In a landmark event, Writers
of Influence: Shakespeare to JK Rowling will include the Gallery’s
inaugural UK loan of its iconic Chandos portrait of William Shakespeare,
the very first work it acquired in 1856. The painting will go on
display alongside a host of significant literary portraits from
the NPG’s collections, including work by Vanessa Bell, Bill Brandt,

Society of Women Artists Summer Exhibition. A popular event in the
London calendar, the 149th annual exhibition showcases yet another

East Anglian Group of Marine Artists. The Group concentrates on
depicting the East Coast maritime scene in a variety of styles ranging

Guild
of Aviation Artists. Once again, award-winning art is on display
at the world’s biggest aviation art exhibition. With a complete
range of media including ceramics, all the art works are original
pieces by UK and International artists, professional and talented
amateurs. Complementing every conceivable aircraft or aviation subject
are fine examples of land, sea and skyscapes. Subjects range from
early flights through the World Wars to the latest civil and military

Sea
Fever. From Turner to today. Southampton City Art Gallery presents
a major exhibition for summer 2010 of over 80 works by some of Britain’s
best known artists. It will draw on highlights from the gallery’s
permanent collection including Turner’s recently conserved Fisherman
upon a Lee Shore in Squally Weather and Christopher Nevinson’s Loading
Timber at Southampton Docks, including Barbara Hepworth’s Sea Form
(Porthmeor), Maggi Hambling’s recent painting, Erosion and Julian

Kentish Town’s Map Café launches its first exhibition of 2010 with
one of London’s most exciting new photographers, entitled “Moment”
the collection explores the power of a moment – a split second in
time, that can tell a story, challenge thoughts and ignite imagination.
Natalie has been taking photographs of challenging subjects for
over 10 years, and this will represent her first headline exhibition.
